Hey sis, when you are in the fight of your life you need divine strategies that are going to help you win the battle not as the world says but what God has said in His Word. I was searching the Internet one day looking for resources and scriptures on spiritual warfare only to find limited material on the subject. This really shocked me and led me to dig deeper in the topic. I would like to shed some light in hopes that it will help and guide you into His truths.

What is spiritual warfare?

Spiritual warfare is a spiritual conflict between two opposing parties, primarily a host or army that comes to denote a war. The devil knows that his time is short, so he wants to wreak havoc against the saints of Jesus Christ. You ever wonder why sometimes if it is not one thing its another? There is a war going on and it has been happening since the very beginning. The battle between good and evil in the garden of Eden. The battle of good and evil in the Heavens between Michael and the devil and his angels because of disobedience (Revelation 12). There is a raging war going on between good and evil you see it so evident now and exists today because we are the remnant of His seed because we have kept the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

As Christians we must choose whose methods we want to use to win this battle. Will we use God’s weapons or man’s? Apostle Paul assured us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 that he will use God’s weapons and not those of man to knock down the devil’s strongholds. Man says fight physically with your bare hands. God’s Word says this is a spiritual fight. These spiritual weapons can cast down every imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God by taking captive his thoughts to make they line up with the Word of God. Nothing can break satan’s barriers like God’s weapons.

Daily we must renew our minds with God’s Word. In Philippians 2:5 Apostle Paul encourages us to “let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” now where you see mind in this scripture replace it with Word. It should now say “Let this Word be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” The Word of God dwelled richly in His Son in that He did all that the Lord commanded Him while on this earth. He was obedient even unto to death. The mind is very important because it controls everything. Our mind must be renewed daily to win spiritual battles daily. These three steps have made such a difference that I would like to share with you sis found in 2 Corinthians 10:4-6:

1)      Cast down imaginations with the Word of God (Romans 12:2)

2)      Take captive your thoughts (Philippians 4:8, Proverbs 23:7)

3)      Have a readiness to obey God (James 4:7-8)

The Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy a young minister of the Gospel in 1 Timothy 1:18 “This charge I commit unto thee, Son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare holding faith and a good conscience.” To win a good warfare, there is something you must put on. You must put on the whole armor of God. God provides the armor, but it is up to us to put it on. Put on the whole armor that you will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. You must be ready for his schemes and tricks. There are principalities and powers assigned to you to stop you from fulfilling the calling and purpose God has on your life, but it is time to rise up and fight back.

Ephesians 6:10-18 gives us the exact supplies we need as soldiers to win this battle. One thing I have started doing in incorporating this prayer as often as I can remember, “LORD, I STAND AS A WARRIOR WHO DOES NOT BACK DOWN IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY. I AM A PRINCESS WARRIOR CLOTHED IN FULL ARMOR. I CAN STAND AGAINST THE SCHEMES AND PLOTS OF THE ENEMY FOR THIS IS A SPIRITUAL WAR, SO I STAND WITH MY BELT OF TRUTH READY TO COMBAT ANY LIE WITH THE WORD OF GOD. I PROTECT MY HEART WITH THE BREASTPLATE OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS BECAUSE OUT OF IT FLOWS THE ISSUES OF LIFE. MY FEET ARE PROTECTED BECAUSE I BRING THE GOSPEL OF PEACE EVERYWHERE I GO. ABOVE ALL, I TAKE THE SHIELD OF FAITH TO BLOCK ALL THE FIERY DARTS THAT COME MY WAY. I WEAR MY HELMET OF SALVATION TO KEEP MY MIND FOCUS ON JESUS AND MY PRECIOUS SALVATION. Put on the whole armor:

1)      Lions girt about with truth (v.14)

2)      Breastplate of righteousness (v.14)

3)      Feet with Gospel of Peace (v.15)

4)      Shield of Faith (v.16)

5)      Helmet of Salvation (v.17)

6)      Sword of the Spirit (v.17)

Lastly, Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy as Christ’s soldier to do not let yourself become tied up in wordly affairs, for then you cannot satisfy the one who enlisted you into the army. When you are so consumed with what is going on in this world you can lose sight of what really matters. I love this quote by St. Francis of Assisi “Wear the world as a loose garment, which touches us in a few places and there lightly.” We cannot get comfortable here because this is not our home. Wear this world loosely and make sure you wear the armor of God daily in order to stand in this evil day.
