“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord Almighty.” -Zechariah 4:6
Many people in the world think that in order to succeed you must look a certain way, talk a certain way, or dress a certain way. But God says, “You will succeed because of My Spirit.” It is only through God’s spirit that anything of lasting value is accomplished. When you have God on your side He is all you need. As you do what God has purposed for you to do. Do not trust in your own strength and abilities, instead depend on God and work in the power of His Spirit. Today, I wanted to share 5 excuses that may be hindering you from fully walking in your God-given purpose.
1) There is somebody already doing it
“ There is no new thing under the sun.” -Ecclesiastes 1:9
Have you ever heard of this quote sis? There is a whole lot of truth to it when it comes to your God given purpose. You see there is nothing new under the sun that has not already been done. What you have desired to do maybe someone else is already doing something similar. So, what? It may be similar, but it is not identical. There is room in the Kingdom for you too, sis. The awesome thing about it is God has uniquely gifted you before the foundations of this world. He knows how to tailor make a thing that will fit perfectly on you. Your gifts, your talents, your skills, your voice. The world needs it. Sis, you will meet people I probably will never meet, and I will probably meet people you will never meet. Our God is just that big to connect us with different people all over this world.
2) I do not have the resources to do it
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” -2 Peter 1:3
When God calls you to do something for Him He is your source. You may not have the finances or resources, but I believe if He called you to do something He will provide all of that. It is more so about your obedience than anything. Will you step out in faith or will you just continue to wait on God? God is waiting on you. He places the desire in your heart, but it is up to you to add some works behind your desire. He wants to see if He can trust you to do what He purposed for you to do. Faithful is He who calls you. He knows what you have need of before you even ask. He is just patiently waiting on you. He will send the finances, resources, and tools to help you along because it was His purpose before it was ever yours you are just the steward He entrusted.
3) I am not good enough
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” -Genesis 1:31
Sis, when God created you He created you in His image and likeness. Everything He created was good. He gave us dominion in the earth and heavenly realm. You are valuable. When you look at others and say I do not measure up it is like an insult to your Creator. He never created us to compete, but to be in fellowship together bringing glory to His name. Transform your mind to see the beauty in the process. Your process is going to look different from everyone else. Cast down your fears and keep walking in your God-given purpose. If God gave you the vision, act on it for you have been called to the Kingdom for such a time as this.
4) My testimony is not interesting
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;” -Revelation 12:11
Your testimony is yours, sis. It is something that no one can take away from you. Yes, this hard-long process you are going through will one day make sense. You will see the light soon and share your hills and valleys with another sister to help her see the light at the end of the tunnel. The two of you will be able to both say, “God is faithful!” The Lord will allow you to share your testimonies of how you survived, and it will be so freeing because you kept hope alive. You matter. Your story matters. Your testimony is powerful because it is uniquely you. You play a vital role in helping bring in souls into the Kingdom when you share what only God can do. Do not be ashamed of it, it is how victory is won over the evil one. Keep living, keep breathing your life has a new meaning.
5) I do not have enough support
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” -Isaiah 41:10
When you look at the facts Jesus did not have but 12 followers, and He turned the world upside down. Little is much when God is in it. Trust me, you do not need a whole lot just use what you got. Everyone is not going to support you but serve the ones well who do. You may have a lot of people surrounding you, but do they really know who you are. Jesus could only do few miracles in His hometown because of their unbelief. It is amazing how people you have never met in person are more supportive than people you have known all your life. To those that “know of you” you are just *insert your name* but God has sheep of other fold your message will be just right for. God is the One who calls you. God is the One who is rooting for you for you are called according to His purpose. He will send the right people to support the vision God gave you. The Lord will grant you success all in His timing.
Could you relate to any of these, sis? Let me know in the comments!
This was such a good post. We hinder ourselves so much. I loved how you shared these scriptures to combat the negative thoughts, too.
Thank you so much Lisa! Yes, scripture is one of our greatest warfare weapon when the enemy tries to drown us in negative thoughts. Keeping the Word in the forefront of your mind is key!
This great. The things Satan whispers to us to keep us from walking in our purpose. You address them and dismiss them. Love it 💕 #HisGraceGirls
Sis, you hit on a great point to address them and dismiss them! That is definitely what we have to do to win the battle in our minds because that is where it starts. Thank you so much for reading! God bless you!
Looooove this! It was on time! And I will share this on Facebook! This encouraged me! Definitely plan on re- reading this and studying those scriptures as well. 💓
Shanay,
Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this post sis! You are amazing love! Feel free to write them down! They truly blessed me while writing! May the Lord’s light continue to shine through you, sis!
This post really blessed me sis. I have it saved in my bookmarks so I can read it over again when I’m going through a tough season. Thank you!
Absolutely! I am so glad it resonated deeply with you sis! Keep on looking up! He will certainly fulfill the purpose He has for you!
Put some works behind your desire! That was good. And reminding us that in Christ I have all I need for the life He put in me. Standing in that to push forward. There are difficult days as I learn a new skill and discipline. But God is able.
Definitely learning that more and more! He needs consistency! It is a daily fight but so worth it! Bless you sis!
Oh this was message was just what I needed to hear today. I have been wanting to blog about God, but kept thinking their are sisters already doing such a great job, that I could never compare. But, you have reminded me that I am not to compare myself to others. I am just to do the work that God has placed in my heart to do. Thank you.
Joyce, there is room for you too! I hope you will continue to do everything He purposed in your heart to do.
