Women Who Lead Bible Series: Tabitha (Dorcas)

Women Who Lead Bible Series Tabitha

Have you ever done something for someone else that gave you the greatest joy on the inside? You immediately felt this sense of accomplishment just in your heart that you were doing something right. Maybe, it was encouraging your sister or brother in Christ or maybe you were out serving in your community and you felt deep down inside that this is what you were called to do. God created each and everyone for a special purpose. He has a purpose and a plan for your life in this very moment. Sometimes, it may not look like it or feel like it during the process but He does and He will bring it to full fruition in His timing. He created us for His good pleasure and those trials that you may be facing right now are working for your good, sis. He did not promise us that this life would be easy, but surely rest in this fact that He has been faithful through every test and trial. It is certainly equipping you for the work that He is calling you to do. He is constantly working things out on your behalf. In times of uncertainty, we must remain faithful standing on His promises. Today, we are going to a look into Tabitha’s story. She was a Christian woman of Joppa who did amazing things for the people in her community.

She was a female disciple

What is a disciple you may ask? A disciple is one who follows one’s teaching and they manifest that they are His disciples by abiding in His Word. Tabitha believed the teachings of Jesus Christ and confessed Him wherever she went. She was bold in her faith! She was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sis, do not be ashamed of Him before others. He has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. It is hard to come in contact with God and be the same. Stand firm in what you believe. Be a wholehearted follower of Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus Christ, we should be imitators of Him in everything we say and do.

She was full of good works and charitable deeds

What does it mean to be full of good works and charitable deeds? It is showing people the love of Christ and meeting them at their need. Tabitha met people at their need by seeing them like Christ sees them. I love how the scripture said, “This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds.” It is well pleasing to God to be full and overflowing with good works and good deeds all for His glory. She was selfless in that she esteemed the needs of others higher than herself. She was a beacon of light for others in her community. God desires for us to spread the love and gospel of Jesus Christ with others. Sis, continue to let your light so shine for the glory and honor of God.

She worked well with her hands

When Tabitha became very sick and died, her friends and family brought Peter to the upper chamber. All of the widows stood their crying showing Peter all the tunics and garments Tabitha had made. She served wholeheartedly among the widows in her community. She would make clothing just for them. It amazes me how she took the time with them because during that time the widows had very little income due to their husbands passing away. She took the time to see about them and to build relationship with them. She brought hope to the community in which she lived by making beautiful clothing for the widows to wear. God heart is for the widows and the orphans. God desires for us to use our skills that He has blessed us with to bring Him glory. What God-given skills has He given to you that He wants you to share with others?

Arise sister; God is calling for you to stand boldly for Him wherever you go. I pray that He gives you the strength to continue on in truth. I pray that you will be a beacon of light in your community by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others in Jesus name. I pray you were encouraged by today’s post as you continue to be the godly woman God is calling you to be. I have designed this PDF Inspirational Quote Printable just for you!
